Is there something wrong with staged things?

@Ana, for most Themes, not staged shot are not a problem for me, but this Theme...??? Not sure how something can be "Unexpected" to the photographer if he/she staged it. Yes, it can appear unexpected to us. Maybe I'm so self-absorbed that I take the brief as meaning, to me: or in my eye: That may not be the intent of our art, I suppose we are supposed to be creating these images for others to experience. May come from years of photography that wasn't really shared with much of anybody, it was mostly just for me to look at. My professional work has always been very public(graphic design for film titles and television commercials), the photography was for a long time, my little thing.

These websites have certainly opened my eyes about good photography, maybe now I need to open my mind about who is supposed to be the audience...?

LOL, Beamer... yeah, I know what you mean. But in the case of this particular topic, I think you're right - it ought to be unexpected to the viewer, or the photographer. I guess otherwise the theme would have been The Accidentally Decisive Moment.

It's creative!
As often as I can, I try and get a new shot for the theme, sometimes I try and get TWO new shots, and only use one from my archive. It's a great challeng, and it's actually fun looking around for "doubles" and "man-made abstracts" ect..

creating a shot just for a theme (unless it's otherwise stated *not to) is great fun!
