nice photo :) just needs straightening a tad

I really love the content of this shot...it's a wonderful capture. I might have given this a good straightening.
Now..... the part of this theme that is tough for me is that it says "every day activities." So I have to wonder if this man sits there often?

AliceMarie said 259 days ago:

How do you know what anyone does on an everyday activity?...lol This man was waiting on the bus. I am sure he doess this more often than not. If you look at any image that has already been posted, they all do this on a daily basis? Sometimes the themes are a little too detailed on how people perceive them.

This is a nice image but there is just something missing, to me there is no emotional connection between the man and the viewer.

Ana said 259 days ago:

I think you misunderstood me. I'm expressing my lack of understanding of the theme...when it says "every day activities" and then "Life magazine" I can't seem to connect the two.
This shot is amazing (as I said) and I gave it a high score.
There is no way for me to know he's waiting for a bus..... and if this is something he does daily. That's what I meant. The shot doesn't reveal that aspect of the detailed writing of the theme. It doesn't make it less of a shot, in general. I hope this makes sense.

I agree and thank you for the comments Ana! One of the things I wish we could do was write a small comment with the images we submit to a theme. When you can't do this, some people do not understand the back story etc. You would think that would help in people understanding.

Having had a collection of over 100 Life magazines spanning some 30 years, I think I know the style of photography that Craig was suggesting when he wrote the theme - more along the lines of documenting peoples lives "Shots that draw us into their lives..." rather than just "everyday activities"

Just my 2 cents.

I actually don't like the idea of writing a title...at one time I agreed with you (way back when i started at WS) but now I feel like the image should speak for itself. That's sort of the whole concept of WS.
The thing is, this man could be on the steps of a church after a funeral, or maybe he's watching an ant on the stoop..you know? For a theme such as "alone" or something similar, this would be perfect, ya know?
:)

Great subject, great moment in this capture. Suffers some from a need of straightening and a little more contrast, IMHO.

I love the subject and the pose but the overall contrast feels a bit flat and the angle, a bit awkward.
