I must say it's intriguing...

Beamer said 282 days ago:

Bungee or sex swing, can't tell which??? Very unique take on the Theme. High marks from me...we'll see, I guess...

I don't like to see the edge of a photo cutting across a person's face without a really good reason, although some folks won't mind a bit.

At the challenge of another W.S. participant, I recently did a survey of about 6 trendy, high-quality magazines to look at how people are cropped in those magazines. I found only one image where the subject wasn't approximately centered on the page. In every case where the subject didn't occupy the majority of the page, there was copy, another image (e.g., some product) or some other image that was intended to catch the eye.

All that said, as an abstract art photograph, I think this is pretty neat. I'd still like to see the girl's face, if it were possible without ruining the shot.

Very nice example of clever decomposition. I like it.

I think that this is one of my favorite shots for the theme. The composition is superb and the suggestion of movement by her going out of or coming into frame is fantastic. Aces.

King this is one of those instances where this is likely a full frame image with no chance of seeing the girls face, a one of a kind moment not possible to ever get again - I personally love it as is.

See you in 3 days. :-)

King said 280 days ago:

@mtmartini,
If I took this with my point and shoot aimed at the nothingness in dead center, my subject would be out of focus.

My hunch is that this is cropped.

subjectiv?

thanks a lot for your kind comments - in fact the shot isn't cropped at all. i took the photo on a fair where there was this kind of swing for children. the kids could jump really high, but secure - tied to elastic ropes... The picture here is just as it came out of the camera (i just washed out the background a bit more to increase contrast).

King lowers head in humility, admits Tracy was right. Makes me like it even more.
