I was speachless! Great!

Ana said 292 days ago:

good composition, great content, but it seems the processing was done a bit too much?

AliceMarie said 292 days ago:

All I did was slight crop, convert to black and white and unsharp mask. Would love to know what is over processed?

Ana said 292 days ago:

the sharpening makes it looks brittle? and it really seems the contrast is up high....and the lines around the children seem bright?
it's a great shot, and I gave you good scores all around....

AliceMarie said 292 days ago:

I shot this on purpose for the grain effect. I had changed my camera settings to a lower light level wanting the older look of the image. The print looks even better than the jpeg.

Great capture, I might have straightened it just a bit, feels like it runs uphill on the right.

AliceMarie said 292 days ago:

They were going up hill...lol

Certainly a relevant and very touching image. However the impact is obscured by the dark/faux vignette, more so on the right side of the image.

Great composition, fits the brief well. My only fault with it is the 'overcooked' look. I think it could have been softened a little and lost no impact

JustinGaynor said 292 days ago:

It's a nice scene but I'm not sold on the shadows/vignette on the edges. The high dynamic range also seems a bit un-realistic.

agi said 292 days ago:

Nice but seems over processed.

AliceMarie,

My comment was not meant to berate the image or you, but simply to offer a honest critique (isn't that the point of weeklyshot?) There is no reason to be offended. The comment was made only to assist you in understanding why a viewer may find one aspect of it's presentation aesthetically unappealing. Traditionally, a vignette is used to draw a viewer into the image, but not to cover the subject, (which I felt was present in this image)... Going back and slagging one of my prior images (that has a faux vignette) is unsolicited and uncalled for. Please let this be a bygone...

Regards,
Jason

A fun shot.

If you would read above, you would see what I did do to the image...lol I did not add a so called faux vignette to the image. So saying that I did is incorrect. As I said above, I did a slight crop, convert to black and white and unsharp mask. The lighting etc. was shot on camera.

Great catch, love this.
