Less of the spine would have had more 'texture' impact. but totally great all the same.

The texture and the interest is there, it's just not the focus of the composition, and therefore, is secondary.

I like this. It is nicely lit and has some variety of textures. I think I would have tried to include the entire spine of the book.

It's interesting because while the spine and covers look new the pages look very old.

Well, you're right Laurie, the manuscript is from 1617, while the binding is new: alum-tawed pigskin spine piece with vellum boards.
