He's walking the plank so to speak. I really like the toned down saturation and muted colors.

I'm not sure that "walking the plank," so to speak, requires balance so much as it does nerve. :) In any event, it's a very pretty photo. I like all the colors and textures and light very much.

Well, I certainly hope this person has a great sense of balance. I really like the photo, too. the diagonal division of the frame is great, and as a backdrop the water is dramatic and effective.
