Yes. Straight 5's.

Really draws one in.
I would expect this to feature!

King said 411 days ago:

Very effective, IMHO. I like this more the longer I look at it--was it shot on film? What are they flying? Were you simply a passenger? crew? friend?

High marks.

dunezilla said 410 days ago:

I will be crew in about 6 months when I do my training- I was along for the ride, and to help them unload the fuel barrels we were hauling. Right now I'm dispatching at the company until a pilot position opens up. The aircraft is a DHC6 (Twin Otter).

And negative on the film.. Shot with my D200 and 80-200 2.8

King said 410 days ago:

dunezilla,
Very cool (or kewl as George would say).

Please say more. Are you training on the sea-plane version? Landing on ice/snow? Are you in the military?...the guys look civilian. Where are you located?

Well, this company (Kenn Borek Air) does it all. I will most likely
do it all- floats, skis, wheels, tundra wheels. They land in the
craziest places.. Search youtube for "Kenn Borek" and you'll see what
I mean. Some of the guys that I work with have been to BOTH poles,
north and south. Right now I am living in Inuvik, Northwest
Territories. Once I start flying they could send me anywhere we have
contracts- Borneo, Antartica, Maldives, Iqaluit, Peru..

When I took this photo we were on our way to the DEW Line.. Look that
up on Wikipedia.. Pretty cool.. we dropped off barrels of fuel for a
bear tracking group.. They sent us back with a barrel of bear bait..
that stuff stunk!

King said 410 days ago:

dunezilla,

I don't have to look up the DEW line! You are an adventurous fellow. I'll check out Kenn Borek in my spare time.

Good luck--fly safe! (I work for American Airlines, so safety is a 24-7 topic).

Crap, double post. Cool! A fellow industry man! Yeah, up here where the weather can change at the drop of a hat, we also take safety to heart.

I also have a bunch of pictures up on my blog. http://www.dustysensor.ca

dunezilla,
Excellent. Thanks for sharing your site. That red engine cowling makes a dramatic statement against the even more dramatic backgrounds.

I pity you the cost of supplies, living up there.

Hummingbird said 410 days ago:

I really like the feel of this and it is very different than any other submission for this theme so far.

pog said 410 days ago:

The overexposed view works nicely... makes it more interesting to me. I like it!

To be honest, the only thing I notice that bothers me at all is the slight rotation... a nudge counter-clockwise would fix this. I wouldn't change anything else. :)

Lange said 410 days ago:

I greatly enjoy this image. It is very well done, in a way that feels "old school". I find the overblown light from the windshield is actually beneficial here to highlight the hands and the machinery.

Since airline security measures have been increased, this isn't a view many of us get to see. I like the composition very much.

flipthom said 410 days ago:

I knew this would get featured. Congrats!

King said 410 days ago:

Congratulations, Lee!

Hummingbird said 410 days ago:

Congratulations, on your feature!

Lemmingstone said 410 days ago:

Very cool Lee. Well done.

EXP said 408 days ago:

Congrats on the feature! Well deserved! Amazing color and perspective. Despite being such a wide shot, all you're focused on are the hands doing what they do. Amazing.
